Abstract submission form
The 2026 Current Advances in Gambling Research conference will take place in Helsinki, Finland, on 28–29 May 2026. The conference focuses on sharing new and emerging research in the field of gambling studies. This year, we’re particularly keen to see submissions focusing on sociology of gambling, real-world impact, and control & governance.
Accepted contributions will be presented as oral presentations (15 minutes) or posters. For both types, abstracts should be 250 words max. We also invite proposals for pre-conference workshops, to be held on 27 May.
We encourage submissions from early career researchers, professionals from the third sector, regulators, individuals with lived experience, and researchers from the Global South.
The deadline for submission has been extended until February 1, 2026. Authors will be notified of acceptance decisions by 20 February 2026. Registration will open soon after that. AFSG members, students, individuals with lived experience, and the unwaged have a discounted registration fee.
Within the submission process, everyone will be asked to disclose any declarations of interests. People or organisations who have been directly funded by the gambling industry will not be eligible to present. Every presenter will be expected to transparently declare all interests at the outset of their session.
