Dr. Sylvia Kairouz
Dr. Sylvia Kairouz is a professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia University. She has published extensively in sociology, social epidemiology and public health journals and won the Brain Star Award of the Canadian Institute of Health Research for her innovative work on the role of social contexts in alcohol consumption. She is currently engaged in funded research examining comprehensive multilevel models of determinants of gambling behaviours. She has piloted six large population surveys in Quebec over the last five years and collaborates with scholars and key institutions in Quebec, Canada and internationally. She holds an FQRSC research chair on the study of gambling and is the head of the Lifestyle and Addiction Research Lab at Concordia University.
Dr. Susana Jiménez-Murcia
Dr. Susana Jiménez-Murcia is the Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology, at the University Hospital of Bellvitge(Barcelona). She is specialist in Clinical Psychology and has been the Director of the Pathological Gambling and Behavioral Addictions Unit at the Department of Psychiatry (University Hospital Bellvitge-HUB/IDIBELL) since 2002. She is the Co-PI of Group CIBERobn (Excellent Spanish Research Network for Obesity and Nutrition), Associate Professor since 2006 (School of Medicine, University of Barcelona). She has published more than 375 articles in peer review journals with impact factor. She has give more than 200 invited lectures in International/National Conferences and more than 1.000 hours given in different workshops and lectures in officially recognised, by the Psychology and Medical Councils, CBT Institutes. Over 30 competitive research projects achieved in both National and European agencies.
